Our popular Sound Stories series is designed for children who have difficulties with sound production. Each Sound Stories pack contains two attractive and fully illustrated stories, colouring activities and a series of questions which offer high frequency words, featuring, in this case, /s/clusters.

Each pack contains colourful illustrated stories, providing a high frequency of targeted initial speech sounds for focused auditory stimulation and sound production work.

The Sound Stories series is designed for children who have difficulties with sound production. This pack features s clusters. Other editions include /f/, /l/, /t/, /k/,/s/  initial phonemes and /l/ clusters.

Each Sound Stories pack contains two attractive and fully illustrated stories, colouring activities and a series of questions which offer high-frequency words, featuring a specific phoneme in the initial position. These can be used for focused auditory stimulation and sound production work.

The pack also includes additional extension activities to support production at a conversational level.

Teachers will find this product useful to supplement phonics interventions.

The pack consists of:

  1. Three pages of background, introduction and instructions.
  2. Six pages of colour sound stories.
    Story one: Stanley Gets Stuck! Stanley wasn’t the speediest of snails –  in fact, Stanley was the slowest snail of them all. Learn how Spencer the spider uses his special strong web to spin Stanley out of a sticky mess.
    Story two: Stephan’s Special Snowman! One snowy day, Stephan puts on his spotty scarf and his snuggly coat. Using his spade he builds a snowman, with a stick for arms and stones for eyes. Join Stephan and his snowman as they skateboard and skip through their special afternoon together.
  3. Four pages of extension activities comprised of a colouring activity and a set of questions related to each story.
  4. Black and white duplicate stories.

Snippets: Upgrade your account to send specially selected extracts of this resource, via our website, to parents and carers for homework exercises. The snippets for this resource include black-and-white illustrations and the following:

  • The story of Stanley the Snail who, as he slithered slowly along, became stuck on a sticky sweet on the ground! How might Spencer the Spider assist Stanley in releasing him from the sticky sweet?
  • Picking out the words from the story with the ‘special sound’ and saying the words together with the child.
  • A game to see how many words the child can find in a picture that ends with the ‘special sound.’
