Digital Resources

I want to purchase Digital Resources for my Team. How do I do it?

The good news is purchasing digital resources for your team is really easy to do. Simply email us at : orders@blacksheeppressresources telling us which resources you would like to purchase and we will send you a link to whichever resources you wish to use.

You will be able manage how many users you have in your team add, cancel users and manage all aspects of your membership from Your Account. All team memberships are annual.

Why do I receive an error message when I try to purchase a Narrative Assessment online picture book or a FLAC Interactive picture book?

Only customers who have previously purchased the full Narrative Assessment or FLAC packs (which include instruction manual and forms) can place an order for a digital subscription to the picture books. Each assessment is designed to be used with the picture stimuli provided – the use of alternative pictures, or questions would therefore invalidate the assessment results.

To validate your subscription purchase, our website will therefore search for previous orders placed by you for the Narrative Assessment or FLAC packs. Make sure you log into the website so it can search for what you have previously ordered. Occasionally, our website may have difficulty finding your order – for example, if your order was placed manually rather than online, placed under a different name, or placed more than 3 years ago. In this case, please contact us: with the following information which will allow us to search our archives for your order:

the name of the individual/organisation who placed the order

the date of the order where possible

the order number where possible

Can I share my digital resource subscription with anyone else?

These materials are for the use of ONE Speech and Language/Teaching Professional/Parent and his or her student. ONE account = ONE user.

Purchasing a digital resource subscription allows you to email a link to that resource to FIVE parents/carers at any one time for the purposes of ‘homework and reinforcement activity’.

Each emailed link will provide access to the parent/carers for five days. Your subscription is limited to 5 emailed invites at any one time.

A parent/carer cannot find the emailed link I have sent to the digital resource.

We try really hard to make sure that all emails land in the recipient’s inbox. However, we do occasionally get the occasional wayward email which ends up in spam/junk. Please ask the parent/carer to check all folders if the emailed link has lost it’s way!

I cannot use drag and drop on my iPad/tablet

We try and make sure that our resources work on PC’s/ laptops and tablets. When the drag and drop facility is used on some web browsers on a tablet, slight alterations to settings are needed. The good news is these are really simple to do:

Are you open and continuing to operate during the coronavirus outbreak?

At Black Sheep Press, customers and our staff and all the children and young people we support are at the heart of everything we do. The last few moths have been incredibly challenging for us all and our thoughts are with each and every one of you, your families, colleagues and loved ones during these difficult times.

Our website is operating as usual (you can access your resources quickly and efficiently by logging in at any time) and we are happy to hear from our customers via telephone.

Ordering via our website is easy, and, when paying by card, resources are available by downloads immediately.

If you prefer to receive your order on CD rather than download, this is not a problem, but please bear with us if this takes a little longer to dispatch as our staff are all working from home.

Some of our regular customers have let us know how useful the video conferencing screen share facility is proving, allowing them to conduct sessions with children on their case load via an online video link.  During these challenging times where face to face sessions cannot take place, therapists and teachers are able to use the really simple screen share facility. Put simply, this means that the Black Sheep resources which you have on your PC, laptop or tablet can be shared with the child for the duration of your session. Please do not digitally manipulate Black Sheep Press resources and use them in Power Point presentations as this would contravene copyright.

If you have any questions about using your Black Sheep Press resources with children while they are at home do not hesitate to get in touch.

Can I send electronic versions of Black Sheep Press resources to the children I am working with during school closures?

We do understand the enormous challenges teachers and therapists are facing at the moment and so we have made some adjustments to our copyright restrictions for you at this time. In the terms of the licence, you are not permitted to send electronic versions of the complete resource for the use of the children you are working with. However, for those children you are directly working with, we are allowing individual pages of worksheets to be extracted and sent via email or placed on secure homework sites (i.e that parents/children can log into with their own account using a username and password). If you have any questions or queries about this please do not hesitate to get in touch

If you have any questions about using your Black Sheep Press resources with children while they are at home do not hesitate to get in touch:

Your licence allows us to have our resources on 5 computers at 1 site. How does this work during school closures?

Nearly all of our resources are sold with a standard site licence. This allows you to put your resources on 5 PC’s or laptops at one geographical location. We understand that during these times these 5 computers will be based in individuals homes. The individuals using the 5 computers in their own homes will need to have the same contractual base as the licence. If you would like the resources on more than 5 PCs/laptops or on a shared drive giving access to more than 5 PC’s/laptops please contact us as your licence does not currently allow for this.

For those organisations with a network licence, the current licence allows you to have Black Sheep Press Resources on a specified number of computers at a specified base. We understand that these computers will not be at the contractual base but in individual homes. However, the number of computers the resources are downloaded on to will need to remain the same.

In order to use a Black Sheep Press resource your name or the organisation you work for or the site you are based at will be printed at the bottom of every page of your resource. This gives you the licence to use it. If your resource does not contain this correct information and you still wish to use the resource, please get in touch:

Can I use Black Sheep Press resources in Power Point presentations?

No. Copyright restrictions prevent images being printed in any form, reproduced or digitally modified. You can however, screens are your resources with the children you are working with.

Download vs CD queries

Download or CD? Which is best?

We sell all our material as PDF files, on CD, or as downloads. In both cases you can copy the files onto up to 5 computers at one site.

The material and license conditions for the software are the same however you opt to receive it.

Downloads can ONLY be ordered over our website, and must be paid for by card at the time of order. The downloads are created automatically by the website. Links to the downloads are sent by email when the order is finalised.

Once downloaded files are saved to your hard disc there should be no need to download again. However you should always make a backup copy. For a limited period your downloads will be available by logging into Your Account on the website.

If you order the files on CD, you should copy them to your computer and keep the CD as a backup.

If you order items on CD (multiple items would be burnt to the one CD) you can pay by card or opt to be invoiced with the goods. The invoice will be emailed with the order confirmation and the goods will arrive with a copy of the invoice.

I am still waiting for my download. How long should it take?

If you opt to receive your purchased items by download link, the link should be received as soon as you have completed your order on the website. The link to the download will be sent to the email address you specified. Do check your junk folder, just in case.

You could log into Your Account on the website where you will be able to access your download orders. Do contact us if there seems to be a problem.

I have lost or damaged my CD/download. Can you replace it?

You would need to email us with full details of the order in question, ideally with the original invoice number as this is a great shortcut to us tracing and confirming your order. If your order has been within the last five years the basic charge for a replacement CD or download is £25 plus VAT, regardless of the value of the material. If items have been updated however since your original purchase, we would need to make an additional charge to update the item.

How long will my download link still work?

For a limited period your downloads will be available by logging into ‘Your Account’ on the website. We do recommend that material once downloaded is copied to the hard disc of at least one, maximum 5, computers at your one licensed site on receipt, so that you should not need to subsequently rely on still being able to download it. A back up copy can be made on a CD or memory stick if wished. The reason it is advisable to do this is because if an item is subsequently revised, the original version is no longer accessible, and you would need to purchase the new item.

Licensing and copyright queries

What are your license/copyright terms?

All PDF files bought from Black Sheep Press Ltd are subject to our licence conditions.

The Black Sheep Press licence allows you to copy the files on to UP TO 5 computers at one site. A site refers to one place e.g. a school site or clinic.

Schools purchasing BSP resources should licence them in the school name.

SLTs/Pathologists should licence the material in their own or business name, for their own use.

SLTs/Pathologists can use their licensed material in direct work with children on their caseload. SLT’s/Pathologists working or training in schools must not copy their material on to the school computers or give their resources to schools for children who are not on their caseload.

Please contact us directly if you need to purchase a network license (allowing material to be accessed from several geographical sites, e.g. within an NHS SLT service or school academy trust) or you wish to purchase the same material for a number of sites on the same order.

How do I purchase a network license for multiple sites?

Please contact us directly if you need to purchase a network license (allowing material to be accessed from several geographical sites, e.g. within an NHS SLT service) or you wish to purchase the same material for a number of sites on the same order.

We will ask for details of the number of sites, computers, and WTE staff and will then be able to give you a quote. We would undoubtedly give you a discount if you are purchasing a network or multiple site license. The size of the discount would be based on the number of sites and the nature of the order.

I am a Private or NHS SLT. Can I email BSP files to schools/parents?

We understand there are pressures to reduce copying, paper and postage, but it would be outside our copyright terms for files to be emailed or uploaded to schools’ computers.

Where there are certain products that therapists feel schools could frequently be advised to use with individuals then it may be appropriate for the school to buy their own copy.

Do get in touch if you have a particular issue. We would always prefer that people ask if they are unsure.

Can I change the image or text in a pack?

No image or text may be digitally modified without permission.

Can I use pictures from Black Sheep Press resources which I have purchased to make Boom cards?

No. Copyright restrictions prevent images being printed in any form, reproduced or digitally modified.

General queries

Are BSP products books?

No, all our material (with the exception of 2 items, WIG6 and WIG8) is sent as PDF files to be copied to the hard disc of a maximum of 5 computers at the one licensed site. You can then print copies indefinitely as required.

Do you have a catalogue?

We no longer publish a paper catalogue as the web site is able to display far more information and sample pages. Click the ‘View sample’ button to the right of the main picture on the specific product page. On the web site you can sign up for our email newsletter which will keep you up to date with new products & offers. The email will only be about every 1-2 months – we will not flood your inbox with spam!

If you would find a current list of all our resources helpful as an overview/ guide to browsing, use the ‘What’s New’ link at the top of the page & select ‘Research & Articles’.

Do BSP offer training in the use of your products?

Unfortunately we are not in a position to offer training courses ourselves. We aim to ensure that most of our material has clear instructions to support independent use. In some areas of the UK local SLT teams will run training courses or offer advice that will sometimes centre on the use of our material. Your local SLT contact can let you know what support is available in your area.

Specific training on the Narrative material is available from Judith Carey author of some of this material. She can be contacted via Stockport NHS Trust tel 0161 204 4153 or 0161 204 4154.

I am trying to print from my BSP file but pages are missing.

Ensure you are trying to print from a file that is saved to your hard disc. Do not try to print directly from a CD or a download that has not been saved.

Ensure you are opening the file in Adobe Acrobat, not in Preview, or similar.

Can you now view ALL the pages- without trying to print them? If you can see all the pages, the problem is with your printer. It may not have sufficient memory if you are trying to print the whole pack at once. Try printing the pages in batches if that is the case.

Can you send me a formal estimate?

We can send estimates if required, especially for ‘customised’ quotes such as updating material/network licenses etc. However, a basic estimate is simply the sum total of the items you wish to purchase, plus VAT if applicable. An estimate could also be obtained by simply adding those items to your shopping basket on our website.

How do I find what resource I need?

We hope you will find the detailed alternative menus on our website enable you to find what you need. You can either search via the menu that most closely links to your setting, or use the menu that starts from the difficulties that a young person may present with. If you know the exact code or name of the product you are after, or you have a subject matter in mind, you can use the search box.

Items on our articles page may also help you decide which items will work for you.

Is it safe to use a debit/credit card on your site?

Payments are processed by SagePay over a secure server. In the address line on your browser you will see ‘https’ at the start of the line which shows it is an encrypted server. See the SagePay privacy statement for more information. During the 10 years we have used internet payment providers we have never had a security problem. We do not store or see any of your credit card details.
