The understanding and use of concepts is an important area of language development, as knowledge of concepts is essential for a child to be able to understand routines, follow instructions, learn new vocabulary and support literacy and numeracy skills. The packs in our popular Concepts In Pictures series provide teaching techniques, activities and games to help children learn a range of basic concepts – in this case ‘rate’- Quickly, Slowly.
The colourful illustrated worksheets can be used in one to one or small group settings with children of a wide ability range. They are suitable to be used by speech and language therapists and teaching staff and, because each activity is accompanied by clear instructions, they are also ideal for home programmes of work.
For more information see below
Our Rate-Quickly/Slowly pack contains 12 pages of activities based around the characters Quincy Quickly and Sam Slowly. A set of clear instructions are included along with ideas for extension activities. It is recommended that, when a new concept is introduced, a ‘hands on’, concrete approach should always be the initial teaching method. Some children will require a higher level of repetition and reinforcement to fully establish the schemata for the word and so our Rate-Quickly/Slowly pack provides these additional activities.
