r Initial Speech Sound Worksheets

Description

Speech Sound Worksheets are packs of resources for children with delayed speech development. Each pack focuses on an individual phoneme in a specific position in words (initial, medial or final) This pack focuses on: r initial.

All of the activities provide multiple opportunities for the adult to model correct production and for the child to correct their own production of words. Thus, the adult uses the pictures and activities to prompt the use of the target word/sound.

Attractive and easy to use, the worksheets progress from the correct use of the individual sound to single-word production, followed by using these words in simple phrases through to consolidation at the sentence level. Speech Sound Worksheets offer a wide range of attractive interactive games and activities which encourage the production of the focus sound through each of the following stages:

  • identification of the chosen sound;
  • developing discrimination skills so that children become aware of their error patterns;
  • correcting the productions through increasingly complex production contexts i.e. individual words; simple phrases; complex sentences;
  • generalising the sound into spontaneous conversational speech.
