Irregular Plurals worksheets – Grammar

Irregular Plurals is a set of 14 worksheets explicitly designed to teach the most common irregular plurals such as mice; teeth; feet, as well as words ending in ‘ves’ e.g. knives; scarves.

Suitable for one-to-one and group settings to facilitate repetition, modelling and reinforcement.

Written and illustrated by Helen Rippon, Highly Socialist SLT, there are clear instructions on each page, making them ideal for clinic, home and/or school.

The pack includes a range of illustrated activities, including:

• Keep the ‘more than one’ words the same (For example Here is one fish… now you draw four fish. What have you drawn? )
• Words ending in a ‘s’ sound, (For Example: This monster has two noses. What does he have?)
• More than one’ word which sounds very different! (Foot/feet; goose/geese and so on)
• Words ending in the ‘f’ sound (Leaf/leaves; hoof/hooves and so on)
• Silly drawings (Draw some glasses on these animals and people. Then say what you have drawn).
• There’s something wrong… or silly.. about each of these pictures. Can you say what it is?

When we talk about more than one word we put an s at the end of the word. But! … not all ‘more than one’ words follow that rule. Look at some words that stay the same. Here is one, draw more and say what you have drawn.

• Put the right endings on the words that end in an ’s’ sound.
• Look at ‘more than one’ words which sound very different.
• Look at ‘more than one’ words that end in the ‘f’ sound.
• Colour the special ‘more than one word’ and then say what you have coloured.
• Say what is silly about the pictures.
