In the role play game in this pack, children can be allocated roles as either ‘waiter’ or ‘customers’ to help develop social communication skills.

  • Illustrations of food choices, menus and order forms are included.
  • The customers choose from a menu and the waiter collects everyone’s order.
  • As some items are made unavailable on the menu, the ‘waiter’ will have to tell the ‘customer’ that they have run out e.g. ‘Sorry – no more spaghetti!’

The children love doing this!

  • When the waiter returns with the food, each customer has to remember what they have ordered and inform the waiter. This always creates lots of opportunities to develop social communication skills and for expressive language as ‘customers’ struggle to remember or change their minds!
