Privacy Policy

Maintaining the security of your data is a priority at Black Sheep Press and we are committed to respecting your data privacy rights.

Privacy Notice

Maintaining the security of your data is a priority at Black Sheep Press, and we are committed to respecting your data privacy rights. We handle your data in accordance with Data Protection law and will continue to be transparent about what data we collect and how we use it.
Your data will not be shared with or sold to any organisation outside Black Sheep Press for marketing purposes.

How We Use Your Data

Black Sheep Press will only process personal data where necessary to:
a) fulfil a contract with you by supplying the goods or services requested
b) pursue the legitimate interests of Black Sheep Press
c) comply with our legal obligations, including tax and VAT requirements
The only electronic marketing undertaken by Black Sheep Press is to customers who have specifically signed up to receive our occasional email newsletter. This requires a clear, affirmative action on the part of the customer. The email details submitted will only be used to send the newsletter as requested.

Notice and Consent

Black Sheep Press ensures that when we ask for your consent to use your personal data, that consent is opt-in, affirmative, and freely given.
At any time, you have the ability to withdraw consent, either by unsubscribing from our newsletter or by contacting Black Sheep Press to access, modify, or remove your personal data where applicable.

Black Sheep Press does not store or capture personal information (other than limited technical information such as users’ IP addresses) unless you have contacted us through the “Email us now!” form on our website, signed up for our newsletter, registered for an account, placed an order through the website, or used features such as email, snippet sharing, or resource-sharing functions within our online resources.

If you would like to find out more about the types of cookies we use, please see our Cookie Notice.
Your personal information will never be shared with any third parties outside Black Sheep Press, other than where necessary to process your order or deliver your email newsletter. We will never share or sell your information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Mobile Apps

Black Sheep Press Ltd takes the confidentiality and security of children’s information seriously.

The Peter and the Cat App and Squirrel Story App Talking About Apps are designed so that information entered by users is stored locally on the device being used. Black Sheep Press Ltd does not store assessment records or identifiable child data on its own servers.

Because information is stored locally on the device: information entered on one device will not automatically appear on another device, even when the same email address or login details are used; users are responsible for maintaining the security of the device on which information is entered; deleting the App or resetting the device may remove stored information.

Users should:

  • use strong passwords and keep login details secure;
  • lock devices when unattended;
  • avoid sharing devices containing confidential information;
  • follow their organisation’s confidentiality, safeguarding and IT security policies at all times.

Black Sheep Press Ltd does not access, collect, store or monitor confidential assessment information entered into the App unless such information is intentionally provided to us for technical support purposes.

Users and organisations remain responsible for ensuring that their use of the App complies with applicable data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Online Resources

Black Sheep Press online resources are designed so that any information entered by users is stored locally on the device being used. No user-entered exercise, activity, or session data is stored on Black Sheep Press servers or websites.

For online resources, information may be stored temporarily within the browser cache on the user’s device to support functionality during use. Once information has been emailed regarding an activity, the data is removed. Any temporary cached data is controlled by the user’s browser settings and may also be cleared when the browser cache is deleted.

Black Sheep Press has intentionally designed its online resources in this way to help ensure that user data remains on the device on which it was entered and is not centrally stored.

As the data is stored locally on the device rather than on Black Sheep Press servers, users should be aware that emptying caches may result in previously stored data being lost.

As information is stored locally on the user’s device, users are responsible for ensuring that their device, passwords, login details, and any stored information are kept secure and protected from unauthorised access.

Black Sheep Press does not store user-entered activity data and may not be able to recover lost information or access credentials.

Before sending snippets or online resources to parents or carers via the Black Sheep Press website, users should ensure they have obtained appropriate permission prior to entering a parent or carer’s email address into the website, in line with their organisation’s privacy policy and data protection procedures. Email details entered may be stored within the Black Sheep Press database for the purpose of delivering the requested resource.

Your Rights in Relation to Your Data

Under data protection law, you have rights that may allow you, in certain circumstances, to:
* Access the information we hold about you
* Request correction of inaccurate information
* Request deletion of your personal data
* Withdraw consent to marketing communications

However, the goods you order are individually licensed, so we may need to retain certain personal data in order to keep accurate records of your order history and ensure licence conditions are met.
By keeping accurate details of your order history, we are able to assist you efficiently if purchased materials are lost, if you wish to update previously purchased materials, or if you wish to extend your licence terms.
Black Sheep Press also needs to retain certain information in order to comply with statutory and legal obligations, including tax and VAT requirements.
