Talking About Resilience (the first in our new Wellbeing series) follows the format of our popular Talking About range: a scenario or dilemma is depicted, accompanied by four possible responses to that situation … some appropriate, some not! The pictures are provided with a full narrative script for the adult to use, discussion topics and extension activities which aim to facilitate wider debate and problem solving. The pack can be used in a one-to-one setting with individual students, but is more appropriate for small group work in order to encourage exchanges of ideas and promote discussion.
This ‘Talking About Resilience’ pack allows professionals to engage with young people, to help develop essential resilience and problem solving skills. Adolescence is a real window of opportunity to teach new skills, capabilities and strategies to support young people to maintain good mental health in adult life.
Scenarios and extension activities in the pack cover topics which include:
Dealing with disappointment
A long-term, difficult challenge
Dealing with failure
Dealing with stress and panic
Dealing with grief
Making big changes in your life
Dealing with challenges/ambition
Finding it difficult to make friends
