Angie is a passionate advocate of role play and co-authored the handbook for teachers Using Drama to Teach Personal, Social and Emotional Skills (O’Hanlon and Wootten, 2007). Her MPhil was in oral communication skills.
Twelve colour picture scenarios are used to elicit responses and promote discussion. Examples of scenarios include:
- owning up to a mistake
- repairing a conversation breakdown
- responding to visitors on the doorstep
- responding to another’s needs
