The Social Communication Profile is a tool designed to support the planning and setting of social communication targets for children and young people who need additional support in this area. The Profile is appropriate for use with individuals using any effective means of communication e.g. non-verbal, alternative and augmentative communication systems or speech.
A comprehensive and detailed pack that identifies crucial areas of social communication. This promotes discussion of current strengths and target areas.
The forms encourages consideration of skills in relation to the needs of the individual, rather than developmental ‘norms’.
The forms, designed by Joanne Bedford, Speech & Language Therapist, Dumfries & Galloway NHS, have been trialled and refined over a 4 year period.
Aims: The profile identifies more than 90 small, measurable skills across nine areas which, when combined, ensure successful social communication. The profile recognises skills from the earliest level and helps identify areas of strength.
Age Range: People of any age who have social communication problems.
Contents: Instructions & guidance on the use of the forms, printable forms, a 50 slide presentation for instruction & training, a set of interactive forms that can be filled in & saved on the Mac, PC, or iPad.
