Black Sheep Press started in 1992 with the aim of providing cost effective resources to help children with speech and language difficulties. Since then we have expanded our range to over 120 sets of resource material. In November 2008, Black Sheep Press became a Limited Company.
Most day to day work at BSP is carried out by Gillian, Rachael and Alan. Helen Rippon illustrates and designs most of our work sheets. She qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist and has worked mainly in community clinics but for the last five years has been lead therapist for the Mainstream Schools Special Needs Service in Grimsby.
All our resources are designed by working professionals who want to share the materials they have created and found to be effective in their every day practice.
Our collaborators include:
- Becky Shanks, Victoria Apparicio (formerly at Stockport PCT), Judith Carey and Sarah Parkin of Stockport PCT.
- Felicity Durham, Joanne Bedford and Eilidh Ross, who work with children with specific language difficulties in Dumfries and Galloway.
- Angela E. Wright, Senior Specialist Speech/Language Therapist, North Staffordshire Community Health Care Trust.
- Catherine Redmayne who is an independent speech and language therapist.
- Sue Nicholls a qualified youth worker, currently working as a registered childminder and tutor for the National Childminding Association.
- Anita Harron, Anne McMahon, Éadaoin Ní Mhianáin who collaborated with colleagues to produce our irish resources.

- Leanne Allan and Suzie Leitão who each have over 20 years experience of speech therapy with children in Australia.
- Dr. Roslyn Neilson, Speech-Language Pathologist and lecturer at University of Wollongong
