Copycat
Copycat is a DVD that parents and professionals can use independently to facilitate early speech and language acquisition in a non-directive, non-pressurised and fun way. It will be a valuable support for children with speech and language difficulties.Copycat differs from other nursery rhyme DVDs and CDs that are available in that it uses songs and rhymes geared towards developing imitation from its most basic level, (copying gross motor actions), to the more complex stage of copying real words. The DVD has been divided into two chapters the first being a sing-a-long for children to watch and join in with and the second chapter providing information for parents/professionals, discussing how early language develops and also talking about how each song or activity helps. There is also advice on what parents can do to help develop their childs speech and language development, as well as advice from a nursery school teacher and a parent talking about their own experiences of having a child with speech and language delay. Throughout, the DVD is based on recent evidence on how to best help early language acquisition. find out more
